Softball Recap: Rains Takes a Loss

Rains was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 7-6 heartbreaker at the hands of the Mount Vernon Tigers. The Wildcats were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Tigers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

Rains now has a losing record of 8-9-1. As for Mount Vernon, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-4-1 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. A feisty cat fight will be fought as Rains Wildcats face off against Commerce Tigers at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Mount Vernon, they are taking a road trip to challenge Hooks at 10:15 a.m. on Saturday.
