Basketball Recap: Cromwell Comes Up Short

If Cromwell was riding high fresh off their 77-41 takedown of Fond du Lac Ojibwe O last Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Cromwell Cardinals took an 82-75 hit to the loss column at the hands of the South Ridge Panthers on Friday. The Cardinals were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Panthers earlier this season, when they won 69-50.

Despite the loss, Cromwell still got an impressive performance from Brady Dahl, who almost dropped a double-double with 31 points and nine rebounds. Dahl is on a roll when it comes to boards, as he's now pulled down nine or more in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Drew Nyberg, who went 6-for-8 to rack up 19 points and four steals.

Even though they lost, Cromwell smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in three consecutive contests.

Cromwell's defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 7-1 and their overall record down to 14-7. As for South Ridge, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 14-7 record this season.

Looking ahead, Cromwell will head out on the road to take on Barnum at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Cromwell's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last 12 matchups. As for South Ridge, they will welcome Mountain Iron-Buhl at 7:15 p.m. on Monday.
