Legacy Christian Academy will head out on the road to face off against St. Thomas Catholic at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Legacy Christian Academy is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 33.6 points per game this season.
Legacy Christian Academy is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat St. Michael's 52-9. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Eagles' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 256th, while the Warriors are ranked 604th).
Legacy Christian Academy's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Luke Lawrence, who threw for 228 yards and three touchdowns, and Jaxson Ladd, who rushed for 128 yards and one TD on only 14 carries. What's more, Lawrence racked up 53 rushing yards, the most he's had since back in November of 2024.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Legacy Christian Academy was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 251 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 186 rushing yards in four consecutive matchups.
Another reason for the win was Legacy Christian Academy's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for 3.5 sacks. The team can thank two different players for their defensive prowess: Sam Jones and H Rasor, who each picked up one sack apiece.
Meanwhile, after a string of six wins, St. Thomas Catholic's good fortune finally ran out last Friday. They had to suffer through a 45-17 loss at the hands of Prestonwood Christian. The Eagles were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 31-10.
The match pitted two dominant signal callers against one another in Pierce Jacobson and Luke Glass. Glass had a great game and threw for 193 yards and a pair of TDs while completing 78.9% of his passes. Meanwhile, Jacobson was balling out in the loss, rushing for 61 yards and one score on only eight carries, while also throwing for 158 yards and one touchdown.
Legacy Christian Academy has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 13.3 points on average over those games. As for St. Thomas Catholic, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-2.
Friday's contest might be decided on the ground. Legacy Christian Academy has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 187.4 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like St. Thomas Catholic struggles in that department as they've been averaging 170.1 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's matchup turns into a tough fight on the ground.
