Basketball Recap: Jade Reed Key Part of Team Effort in Hornets Win

It's playoff time, and South Gibson had no trouble coming through when it counted. They snuck past the Cocke County Fighting Cocks with a 43-39 victory on Thursday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Hornets.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead South Gibson to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jade Reed, who shot 75% from the field to rack up 15 points along with seven boards and five steals. Reed is on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as she's posted one of at least 50% in the last ten games she's played. Another player making a difference was Ivy Cianciolo, who posted eight points.

Despite the loss, Cocke County saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Karmine Carmichael had 11 points and eight rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Ellie Proffitt, who scored nine points.

South Gibson's win bumped their record up to 28-8. As for Cocke County, their defeat dropped their record down to 29-8.

South Gibson wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 36-29 loss against Heritage on the 14th. Cocke County does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
