Softball Recap: Moundridge Extends Winning Streak to Eight

Moundridge had already won seven in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12.7 runs) and they went ahead and made it eight on Tuesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Herington Railers an 11-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Wildcats, who have now won 11 games by six runs or more so far this season.

Lela Winsor was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out ten over six innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted over her last ten matchups. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and two doubles.

In other batting news, Marah Kaufman and Macy Kaminkow did most of the damage at the plate: Kaufman went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run, while Kaminkow went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Those two stolen bases gave Kaufman a new career-high. Izzy Durst was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Moundridge's victory bumped their record up to 14-5. As for Herington, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-5.

Looking ahead, Moundridge will face off against Remington at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. The Broncos have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.29 runs per game on average), something the Wildcats will no doubt try to take advantage of. Herington does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
