Football Recap: Morgan County Beats Jackson for Their Eighth Straight Win

Morgan County extended their winning streak to eight on Friday, bumping them up to 8-0. They put the hurt on the Jackson Red Devils with a sharp 42-18 win. Fans of the Bulldogs have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 20+ points.

Morgan County's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Davis Strickland led the charge by throwing for 222 yards and four touchdowns while completing 96.2% of his passes. Strickland has been hot, having posted three or more passing touchdowns the last five times he's played. Ty Tillery also helped with two TDs in total.

As for Jackson, their loss was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 3-5. While losing is never fun, they can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia football rankings (they are ranked 254th, while Morgan County is ranked 65th).

Several Red Devils players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Dyron Duffey, who picked up 89 receiving yards and a pair of scores. Duffey got the majority of those receiving yards when he pulled down a pass and took off for a gain of 59 yards. Danarri Brown was another key player, rushing for 97 yards and one touchdown.

Morgan County wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 41-7 victory against Pike County on the 24th. As for Jackson, they have also already played their next contest, a 47-17 defeat against Callaway on the 24th.
