Basketball Game Preview: Chaparral Cowboys vs. Del Sol Dragons

Chaparral is on a three-game streak of home losses, Del Sol a three-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck will change on Thursday. The Chaparral Cowboys will host the Del Sol Dragons at 6:30 p.m.

Last Tuesday, Chaparral came up short against Shadow Ridge and fell 60-49.

Meanwhile, Del Sol had to endure an eight-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They took their game on Wednesday with ease, bagging a 58-29 win over Pahrump Valley. With that victory, the Dragons brought their scoring average up to 50.2 points per game.

Chaparral better keep an eye on Jaeden Alexander. He was instrumental in Del Sol's win, going 11 for 20 en route to 25 points along with seven rebounds and five steals. That makes it four consecutive games in which Alexander has scored at least a third of Del Sol's points. Kelly Dawson was another key player, putting up 12 points in addition to six assists and five steals.

Del Sol's win ended an 11-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 4-14. As for Chaparral, they now have a losing record at 11-12.

Chaparral took their victory against Del Sol in their previous meeting on January 9th by a conclusive 86-64. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Alexander, who shot 5-for-8 from deep and almost dropped a double-double on 32 points and nine boards. Now that he's got a second chance to win this matchup, will Chaparral still be able to contain Alexander? There's only one way to find out.
