Basketball Game Preview: Beloit Trojans vs. Ellsworth Bearcats

The Beloit Trojans will take on the Ellsworth Bearcats in a holiday battle at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Beloit comes in on three and Ellsworth on four.

Beloit is headed into the contest after thoroughly thrashing Republic County: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Trojans blew the Buffaloes out of the water with a 71-23 final score. That 48 point margin sets a new team best for the Trojans this season.

Beloit can attribute much of their success to Reagan Cheney, who dropped a double-double with 22 points and 11 boards, and Karlie Smith, who almost dropped a double-double with 16 points and nine rebounds. Thanks to that strong game, Cheney now owns an excellent 45.2% shooting accuracy. McKenna Channell was another key player, shooting 63% from the field to rack up 12 points.

Beloit was working as a unit and finished the game with 18 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since the start of last season.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Ellsworth duked it out with Minneapolis on Tuesday. The Bearcats secured a 52-46 W over the Lions.

Beloit's record is now 3-1. As for Ellsworth, their record now sits at 4-0.

Beloit barely slipped by Ellsworth when the teams last played back in January, winning 48-47. Do the Trojans have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bearcats turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
