Softball Game Preview: Bridgeland Bears vs. Klein Oak Panthers

For the second straight game, Bridgeland will face off against Klein Oak. The Bears will square off against the Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Bridgeland 3.9, Klein Oak 3.7) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Bridgeland heads in on the heels of a playoff matchup on Wednesday. They fell just short of Klein Oak by a score of 6-5.

For Klein Oak's part, they got a great performance from Izzy Lee as she struck out ten batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. That's the most strikeouts Lee has posted since back in February.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Morgan Sanchez, who went 3-for-4 with two doubles, one stolen base, and one run. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March. Makenzie Berkman also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.

Klein Oak pushed their record up to 18-10 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.8 runs over those games. As for Bridgeland, their loss dropped their record down to 16-12.

Thursday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Bridgeland hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .345. However, it's not like Klein Oak struggles in that department as they've averaged .319. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
