Softball Recap: Johnston City Beats Flora for Their Fourth Straight Win

Johnston City waltzed into their match on Saturday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They put the hurt on the Flora Wolves with a sharp 11-3 victory. The Indians have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Wolves, too.

Peyton Johnson made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out six over 4.2 innings pitched. Those six strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with three RBI.

In other batting news, Johnston City got a big performance out of Peyton Smith, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and three runs. Smith is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last 11 games she's played. Another player making a difference was Lilli Armes, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI and one double.

Johnston City's record is now 12-9. As for Flora, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-9.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Johnston City will square off against Carmi-White County at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Flora, they will challenge Hamilton County at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Wolves' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Foxes have averaged an impressive 8.9 runs per game this season.
