The West Geauga Wolverines will square off against the Geneva Eagles at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. West Geauga is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last 11 games.
West Geauga proved they can win big on Tuesday (they won by 21) and on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 9-7 victory over Perry. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Wolverines have posted since March 25th.
Lely Percassi spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and four unearned) runs on 11 hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Faelynn Beckrest, who went 3-for-4 with one home run and four RBI. She has been hot, having posted three or more hits the last six times she's played. Ava Borz was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: West Geauga kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in nine consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Geneva scored first but ultimately less than South in their contest on Thursday. They fell just short of the Rebels by a score of 6-4. The loss continues a trend for the Eagles in their meetings with the Rebels: they've now lost five in a row.
Ella Walker made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run. Another player making a difference was Claire Cafaro, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.
West Geauga's victory bumped their record up to 14-3. As for Geneva, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-7.
Monday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. West Geauga hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .410. However, it's not like Geneva struggles in that department as they've averaged .335. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went West Geauga's way against Geneva in their previous meeting back in May of 2025, as West Geauga made off with a 21-10 win. Will the Wolverines repeat their success, or do the Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
