Soccer Game Preview: Chatham vs. Nelson County

The Chatham Cavaliers will head out to take on the Nelson County Governors at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Nelson County will face off against a team with plenty of momentum: Chatham extended their winning streak to four on Monday. The Cavaliers never let Dan River get on the board and left with a 3-0 win. The final result isn't all the surprising considering Chatham's considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia soccer rankings (they are ranked 93rd, while Dan River are ranked 319th).

Chatham hit Dan River with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Ariyana Bradley, Victoria Spong, and Delaney Haymore.

Meanwhile, Nelson County waltzed into their game on Friday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They blew past the Falcons 9-0. Nelson County's defense has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a goal in their last four matches.

Nelson County's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-3-1. Those road wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up one goal over those three contests. As for Chatham, their victory bumped their record up to 10-0-1.
