Softball Recap: Weiser Makes It 11 in a Row at Home

There's no place like home for Weiser, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. They had just enough and edged out the Cole Valley Christian Chargers 7-6. This was a revenge game for the Wolverines: when they faced off against the Chargers on Monday, they had to take a 6-2 defeat.

Madi Janicek spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and four unearned) runs on six hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 11 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Weiser got a big performance out of Ellie Shirts, who went 3-for-5 with three RBI and one triple. Ali Navarrete was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Weiser was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cole Valley Christian only posted a batting average of .241.

Weiser's victory was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 13-3. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.1 runs over those games. As for Cole Valley Christian, their loss ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 18-4.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Weiser will square off against Emmett at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Cole Valley Christian, they will face off against Fruitland on Monday.
