Football Game Preview: Owego Free Academy River Hawks vs. Monroe Red Jackets

The Owego Free Academy River Hawks will challenge the Monroe Red Jackets at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Owego Free Academy comes in on five and Monroe on ten.

Owego Free Academy is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past New Hartford 36-34. The River Hawks' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Meanwhile, Monroe won against Honeoye Falls-Lima last Saturday with 40 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Saturday. The Red Jackets put the hurt on Lackawanna with a sharp 40-14 victory. The Red Jackets might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine contests by 26 points or more this season.

Owego Free Academy better keep an eye on Messiah Hampton. He was instrumental in Monroe's win, picking up 62 receiving yards and two touchdowns, while also rushing for 70 yards and one TD.

Monroe didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Lackawanna to a completion percentage of just 30.4%. The Red Jackets weren't nearly as limited: they posted one of 69.6%.

Monroe didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off four passes before the game was over. D'Markos Trammell led the group effort, picking up two of those interceptions all by himself.

Owego Free Academy's win bumped their record up to 9-3. As for Monroe, their victory bumped their record up to 10-0.
