Baseball Game Preview: Edsel Ford Thunderbirds vs. Jefferson Bears

Edsel Ford's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They walked away with a 3-0 victory over Dearborn.

Ian Maness was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in eight consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run.

In other pitching news, Ayden Clough tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits over five innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

Maness wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Tyler Zelek, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Jefferson was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 5-4 heartbreaker at the hands of St. Mary Catholic Central.

Edsel Ford is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 12 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-8 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games. As for Jefferson, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-12.
