The DC International Dragons will head out on the road to take on the Jackson-Reed Tigers at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. DC International is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.2 runs per game this season.
DC International is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Monday. They walked away with a 4-0 victory over Georgetown Day.
The result came thanks to Biko Sheridan's shutout, as he gave up just six hits and racked up seven Ks.
On the hitting side, Carlos Ferman was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Darron Francis-Gold, who got on base in two of his three plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run.
Meanwhile, Jackson-Reed waltzed into their matchup on Wednesday with 14 straight wins... but they left with 15. They blew past the Penguins 12-2. 12 seems to be a good number for the Tigers as the squad scooped up a win with the same number of runs in their previous game.
Owen Stone looked comfortable as he pitched 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Jackson-Reed got a massive performance out of Jackson Loomis, who went 1-for-3 with three stolen bases and three runs. Evan Rosario was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Jackson-Reed always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .517. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .517 or higher in four consecutive games.
Jackson-Reed's victory was their 20th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 28-4. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for DC International, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 15-9.
Tuesday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. DC International has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .459. However, it's not like Jackson-Reed struggles in that department as they've averaged .524. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
DC International suffered a grim 8-0 defeat to Jackson-Reed in their previous meeting back in April of 2023. Can the Dragons avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
