On Friday, Cozad faced Ogallala in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Cozad Haymakers fell just short of the Ogallala Indians by a score of 65-63. The Haymakers' defeat signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

Cozad's loss came despite strong showings from Kellen Shoemaker and Olliver Davis. Shoemaker went 6 of 8 from beyond the arc en route to 21 points, while Davis went 6 for 10 on his way to 15 points and seven rebounds. Shoemaker continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Noah Shoemaker, who posted nine points and seven boards.

Cozad's loss ended a nine-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 9-2. As for Ogallala, the win keeps them at an undefeated 11-0.

Cozad wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 64-48 victory against St. Patrick's on the 11th. As for Ogallala, they will take on Sidney at 7:00 p.m. on January 17th. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (Sidney has won seven straight at home, while Ogallala won four straight on the road), something that'll have to change.
