Baseball Recap: Houston Christian Now 4-1 over Last Five Games

After losing to St. Pius X the last time they met, Houston Christian decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. Houston Christian came out on top against St. Pius X by a score of 6-2 on Saturday.

Kaden Worley was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out nine over five innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

Worley wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Hudson Davenport, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two RBI, and one double. Davenport is becoming a predictor of Houston Christian's success: when he posts at least one home run the team is undefeated (and 6-9 when he doesn't). Another was Kirby Orth, who scored a run while going 2-for-5.

Houston Christian is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 9-9 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.2 runs over those games. St. Pius X's loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 5-4.

Looking ahead, Houston Christian will welcome St. John's at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for St. Pius X, they will venture away from home to challenge Kinkaid at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
