Baseball Game Preview: Edgewood Academy Wildcats vs. Port St. Joe Tiger Sharks

The Edgewood Academy Wildcats will head out to face off against the Port St. Joe Tiger Sharks at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Edgewood Academy is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last three games.

Edgewood Academy is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They were the clear victor by a 19-6 margin over Hooper Academy on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for the Wildcats, who have now won six games by six runs or more so far this season.

Garrett Myers looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.

On the hitting side, Ethan Evans was a standout: he got on base in four of his five plate appearances with five stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024. Jackson Hudson also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Meanwhile, Port St. Joe lost 18-8 to Marathon on Monday.

Port St. Joe saw eight different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Eli Harris, who scored a run and stole Two bases. while going 3-for-4. Harris has become a key player for Port St. Joe: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 5-7 otherwise. Eli Godwin was another, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.

Even though they lost, Port St. Joe was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .429 or higher in three consecutive contests.

Port St. Joe's defeat dropped their record down to 8-8. As for Edgewood Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 10-2.
