Volleyball Game Preview: Paulding Panthers vs. Antwerp Archers

The Paulding Panthers will head out on the road to face off against the Antwerp Archers at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.

Paulding is probably headed into the match with a chip on their shoulder considering Tinora just ended the team's eight-match winning streak on Tuesday. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Rams.

Paulding couldn't get the W, but boy did they fight for it: two sets took extra rallies. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-20, 26-24, 17-25, 26-24.

Despite the loss, Paulding got top-tier performance from Estie Pease, who had four digs and two aces. Pease is also crushing it when it comes to assists: she's posted at least 19 every time she's taken the court this season.

Meanwhile, Antwerp came up short against Ayersville on Tuesday, falling 3-0. The defeat continues a trend for the Archers in their meetings with the Pilots: they've now lost four in a row.

Antwerp took the loss but they managed to make steady progress, increasing their score in every set they played. The final score came out to 25-16, 25-20, 25-23.

Antwerp's loss dropped their record down to 4-17. As for Paulding, their defeat dropped their record down to 16-5.

Paulding skirted past Antwerp 3-2 in their previous meeting back in October of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Panthers since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
