Recap: Union City Indians vs. Blue River Valley Vikings

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Union City Indians had no problem doing just that on Friday. They managed a 45-39 win over the Vikings. The win made it back-to-back wins for Union City.

Luane Schoonbroodt was her usual excellent self, scoring 19 points along with seven rebounds and five steals. That makes it seven consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Union City's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Camryn Fischer, who scored ten points along with six rebounds.

When it comes to explaining why Blue River Valley lost, one person who can't be blamed is Maciah Driskill. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds. Driskill hasn't dropped below nine rebounds for eight straight games. Charlee Gibson was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with seven rebounds and two steals.

Even though they lost, Blue River Valley were working as a unit and finished the game with 12 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Union City only racked up five assists.

The victory got Union City back to even at 12-12. As for Blue River Valley, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 12-11 record this season.

Union City and Tri will face off at 7:00 p.m. on February 3rd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Tri is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 55.8 points per game this season. Blue River Valley does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
