Baseball Game Preview: Phoenix Country Day Eagles vs. Horizon Honors Eagles

Phoenix Country Day will head out on the road to face off against Horizon Honors at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

On Tuesday, Phoenix Country Day earned a 7-3 win over Heritage Academy.

Meanwhile, Horizon Honors entered their tilt with Arizona Lutheran Academy on Tuesday with six consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with seven. They blew past the Coyotes 12-4. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine games by six runs or more this season.

Aidan Andrews made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched four innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 4-for-5 with three runs. Those four hits gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Chase Wilson was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run. Max Miller was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.

Horizon Honors was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .469. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Arizona Lutheran Academy only posted a batting average of .200.

Horizon Honors' victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-4-1. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. As for Phoenix Country Day, their record now sits at 11-9.

Phoenix Country Day was able to grind out a solid victory over Horizon Honors in their previous matchup on April 3rd, winning 6-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for Phoenix Country Day since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
