Softball Game Preview: Whitmer Panthers vs. Elmwood Royals

The Whitmer Panthers will head out on the road to face off against the Elmwood Royals at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.

Whitmer easily dispatched Wayne Trace last Saturday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. Whitmer fell just short of Minster by a score of 7-5 last Saturday.

Ryleigh Hannibal was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024. Olivia Munoz was another key player, scoring a run while going 3-for-4.

Meanwhile, Elmwood came up short against Wauseon on Saturday, falling 14-3. The Royals have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Elmwood saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Maddy Campbell, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2. Campbell also brought in an RBI, marking her first of the season.

Elmwood now has a losing record of 2-3. As for Whitmer, their loss was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-1.
