Softball Recap: Monday's Loss Ends Spotswood's Winning Streak

After a string of four wins, Spotswood's good fortune finally ran out on Monday. They took a 5-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the East Brunswick Bears. The Chargers were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Bears earlier this season, when they won 17-1.

Ava Mormile spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and three unearned) runs on five hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Spotswood saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gabby Hill, who went 2-for-4 with two doubles.

Spotswood's loss dropped their record down to 12-11. As for East Brunswick, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 18-2.

Coming up, Spotswood will head out to square off against Edison at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for East Brunswick, they will take on Monroe Township at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
