Basketball Game Preview: Seventy-First Falcons vs. Purnell Swett Rams

The Seventy-First Falcons are taking a road trip to challenge the Purnell Swett Rams at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

Seventy-First is probably headed into the match with a chip on their shoulder considering South View just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Wednesday. They fell to the Tigers 58-52.

Meanwhile, Purnell Swett was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their ninth straight defeat. They came up short against South View, falling 57-34. While losing is never fun, the Rams can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 444th, while the Tigers are ranked 41st).

Seventy-First's loss dropped their record down to 12-7. As for Purnell Swett, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-17.

Everything came up roses for Seventy-First against Purnell Swett in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, as the team secured a 57-21 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Seventy-First since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
