Basketball Recap: South Charlotte Takes a Loss

It was a good run, but South Charlotte unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Tuesday. They were beaten by the Charlotte Christian Knights 101-54. The Thunder lost against the Knights in their previous head to head back in December of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 69-46 score last time.

When it comes to explaining why South Charlotte lost, don't look at Mason Kern. Despite the final result, he shot 71% from the field to rack up 15 points. Kern is also on a roll when it comes to three-point shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 40% in the last four games he's played. Jack Porter was another key player, putting up ten points.

South Charlotte's defeat dropped their record down to 8-4. As for Charlotte Christian, their victory bumped their record up to 8-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. South Charlotte will challenge Arborbrook Christian Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Thunder will need to watch out since the Falcons have now posted at least 55 points in their last five matchups. As for Charlotte Christian, they are headed away from home for the first time to take on Forsyth Country Day at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Knights will be up against the Furies' rather soft defense (which has allowed 55.45 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
