Softball Recap: Lordstown Takes a Loss

Lordstown had lost 17 straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Friday they dropped their record down to 0-14 to make it 18. They came up short against the McKinley Red Dragons, falling 22-12. The Red Devils were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Red Dragons apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2021.

As for McKinley, they moved to 3-19 with that victory, which also ended their seven-game losing streak. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for their hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

For McKinley's part, Alexi Albon was a standout: she got on base in four of her five plate appearances with four runs. Those four runs gave Albon a new career-high. Caroline Cormell was another key player, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with three runs.

Lordstown wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 20-5 loss against Western Reserve on the 12th. As for McKinley, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 10-0 defeat against Orange on the 10th.
