Soccer Recap: Mount Vernon Starts Season with Loss at Home

Mount Vernon unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-pitch advantage in their season opener. They came up short against the West Springfield Spartans on Tuesday, falling 6-0. The Majors haven't had much luck with the Spartans recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mount Vernon will face off against West Potomac at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. As for West Springfield, they will take on Edison at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday.
