Volleyball Recap: Veritas Academy Takes a Loss

After flying high against Savannah Athletic Association on Monday, Veritas Academy came back down to earth. The Gryphon fell just short of the Augusta E Eagles by a score of 3-2 on Thursday. The Gryphon were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Eagles earlier this season, when they won 3-0.

Veritas Academy took a 2-1 lead headed into the fourth set, but sadly they lost the next two. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 24-26, 25-16, 24-26, 25-18, 15-13.

Veritas Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Augusta E, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Veritas Academy will take on Hilton Head Prep at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Augusta E, they will face off against Providence Athletic Club at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
