Softball Recap: Craigmont Chiefs vs. Munford Cougars

Craigmont had lost 18 straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Wednesday they dropped their record down to 0-12 to make it 19. They lost 15-0 to the Munford Cougars. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Cougars this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 17-0 on Wednesday.

As for Munford, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 16-11-1. Considering they have won 12 games by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

For Munford's part, Brooke Levine made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Levine was also big at the plate, getting on base in both of her plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs.

In other batting news, Joci Wilkins was a standout: she went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run, two stolen bases, and four RBI. What's more, she posted two runs, the most she's had since April 8th. Ellie Kate Billings was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two RBI, and one double.

Looking ahead, Craigmont will take on Covington at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Chiefs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Chargers have averaged an impressive 7.7 runs per game this season. Munford does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
