Volleyball Game Preview: Menendez Falcons vs. St. Augustine Yellow Jackets

The Menendez Falcons are headed away from home for the first time to challenge the St. Augustine Yellow Jackets at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

Menendez is leaving town to face St. Augustine after disappointing their home crowd in their season opener. Menendez fell just short of Beachside by a score of 3-2 on Tuesday.

Menendez wouldn't go down easily and took Beachside into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking eight-point loss. The match finished with set scores of 22-25, 25-19, 25-18, 23-25, 15-7.

Meanwhile, St. Augustine lost 3-0 to Nease on Tuesday. The loss continues a trend for the Yellow Jackets in their meetings with the Panthers: they've now lost seven in a row.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-16, 25-16, 25-18.

Menendez came up short against St. Augustine in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, falling 3-1. Can Menendez avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
