Basketball Recap: Mountain Range Takes a Loss

On Thursday, the Mountain Range Mustangs were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 65-64 to the Riverdale Ridge Ravens . The Mustangs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Mountain Range's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Preston Brunton, who went 9 for 20 on his way to 26 points and five rebounds. That was a full 40.6% of Mountain Range's points, marking the third time in a row he's posted more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Moses West, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 14 boards.

Even though they lost, Mountain Range was working as a unit and finished the game with 19 assists. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their assist total in four consecutive matchups.

Dylan Nieto continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Riverdale Ridge, going 8 of 18 en route to 18 points and five rebounds. Nieto's evening made it eight games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Amauri Lucero was another key player, putting up 12 points.

Mountain Range's loss dropped their record down to 4-11. As for Riverdale Ridge, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a massive bump to their 7-9 record this season.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Northglenn the next time they take the court. Mountain Range will head out to face Northglenn at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, while Riverdale Ridge will head out to face them at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
