The Crestwood Comets will venture away from home to face off against the Northwest Area Rangers at 4:15 p.m. on Monday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Crestwood's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. Everything went their way against Wyoming Valley West as they made off with a 10-0 victory. The game was the first time the Comets have beaten the Spartans on their field since May 18, 2022.
Not much got past Brooke Lenahan, who gave up just a hit and racked up nine Ks to keep Wyoming Valley West off the board. Lenahan has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Madison Mendrzycki and Ella Richards did most of the damage at the plate: Mendrzycki went 1-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one RBI, while Richards scored three runs while going 3-for-4. Those three hits gave Richards a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Alexa Toniatti, who scored two runs while going 3-for-4.
They weren't the only one making solid contact: Crestwood kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Northwest Area never got on the board in their matchup on Monday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Columbia Montour Vo-Tech last Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 15-0 margin over the Rams. The win continues a trend for the Rangers in their matchups with the Rams: they've now won eight in a row.
Jenna Robaczewski made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Robaczewski was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.
In other batting news, Northwest Area let Addisyn Diltz and Ava Ruckle run wild. Diltz scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3, while Ruckle scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Abby Everett, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.
Northwest Area pushed their record up to 6-1 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average over those games. As for Crestwood, the victory got them back to even at 4-4.
Both Crestwood and Northwest Area just can't seem to miss. The Comets have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10.8 hits per game. However, it's not like Northwest Area struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 3.3 hits.
