Prairie Heights and Garrett are an even 4-4 against one another since May of 2016, but likely not for long. The Panthers will face off against the Railroaders at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Prairie Heights will be strutting in after a win while Garrett will be coming in after a loss.

On Monday, Prairie Heights needed a bit of extra time to put away Jimtown. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-5 victory over the Jimmies. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Panthers have posted since May 9, 2024.

Prairie Heights' victory was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Kairi Peterson, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Addison Wells was another, going 2-for-5 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Woodlan hit Garrett with a four-run seventh inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Railroaders fell just short of the Warriors by a score of 7-6. The Railroaders have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Ashlee Vanderbosch spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered seven runs (all of which were unearned) on ten hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

Prairie Heights' win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-14. As for Garrett, their defeat dropped their record down to 16-8.

Prairie Heights was able to grind out a solid victory over Garrett in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, winning 4-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Panthers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
