Recap: Austin Achieve Polar Bears vs. Caldwell Hornets
The Austin Achieve Polar Bears's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their 11th straight loss. They were outmatched by Caldwell on the road and fell 65-5. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Austin Achieve in their matchups with Caldwell: they've now lost three in a row.
Caldwell got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Riley Broaddus out in front who scored 16 points. Those 16 points set a new season-high mark for her. Ava Jones was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Austin Achieve's loss was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 2-11. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 12.3 points per game. As for Caldwell, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-13-1.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Austin Achieve will be home for the holidays to greet Giddings at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Caldwell, they will stay at home for another game and welcome Elgin at 6:15 p.m. on December 19th. Elgin has now lost eight straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since November 18.
