Baseball Recap: West Perry Comes Up Short

West Perry extended their losing streak to four on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 10-8 in the process. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 5-4 heartbreaker at the hands of the Northern York Polar Bears. That's two games in a row now that the Mustangs have lost by just one run.

As for Northern York, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 12-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.9 runs on average over those games.

For Northern York's part, they got a great performance from Ambrose Depasqua as he pitched 6.1 innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off nine hits.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Matthew Kendall, who went 3-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Oskar Dees was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Looking ahead, West Perry will look to defend their home field on Monday against Biglerville at 4:30 p.m. The Mustangs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Canners have averaged an impressive 7.4 runs per game this season. As for Northern York, they will head out to challenge Mechanicsburg at 4:15 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Polar Bears 2.7, the Wildcats 4) so any runs scored will be well earned.
