The Palmyra-Macedon Red Raiders will challenge the Lyons Lions at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Lyons will square off against a team with plenty of momentum: Palmyra-Macedon extended their winning streak to three on Thursday. The Red Raiders came out on top against Wayne by a score of 10-7. While the Red Raiders didn't have the best season last year (they finished 8-12), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.
Briana VanHaneghan made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits over four innings pitched. VanHaneghan was also big at the plate, going 2-for-5 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Addi Gendron, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. She is on a roll when it comes to hits, as she's now got three or more in each of the last three games she's played. Shelby Geer was another key player, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.
Palmyra-Macedon kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Wayne only managed five hits.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Lyons). They blew past Williamson 20-8 on Monday. Considering the Lions have won nine matches by more than seven runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Like Palmyra-Macedon, Lyons also got a great game from a two-way player: Keira Weber. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). Weber was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 5-for-5 with three runs, three RBI, and two doubles. Those five hits gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Addison VanLare was a standout: she went 4-for-5 with one home run, five runs, and six RBI. Those six RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Rylee Richardson, who went 4-for-5 with four stolen bases, four runs, and three doubles.
Lyons pushed their record up to 10-1 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Palmyra-Macedon, their victory bumped their record up to 7-2.
Both Palmyra-Macedon and Lyons just can't seem to miss. The Red Raiders have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10.8 hits per game. However, it's not like Lyons struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 4.1 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Palmyra-Macedon took their win against Lyons in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 18-6 score. Will the Red Raiders repeat their success, or do the Lions have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
