Basketball Recap: Branson Comes Up Short

Branson extended their losing streak to three on Thursday, dropping them down to 13-8. They took a 73-58 bruising from the West Plains Zizzers. The game was a 29-29 toss-up at halftime, but the Pirates couldn't quite close it out.

As for West Plains, they have been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 72.7 points over those games.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead West Plains to victory, but perhaps none more so than Shaylee Peterson, who dropped a double-double with 20 points and 17 boards. Those 17 rebounds gave Peterson a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Gillian Green, who went 7-for-16 to rack up 21 points along with seven boards and six assists.

Branson has already played their next contest (against Bolivar), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for West Plains, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 69-67 loss against Marshfield on the 16th.
