Lake Station Edison had lost three straight at home, but on Saturday they dropped their record down to 5-12 to make it four. They lost 12-2 to the Washington Township Senators. Surprisingly, this marked the Fighting Eagles' fourth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.

Lake Station Edison saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gael Gutierrez, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.

As for Washington Township, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-6-2 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.8 runs over those games.

On Washington Township's side, Wyatt Kintzele made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over five innings pitched. Kintzele has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up a single walk in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with one stolen base and one run. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in hits (three).

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Connor Parks, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Drew Horvath, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lake Station Edison will welcome South Shore Homeschool Athletics at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Washington Township, they will host Kouts at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
