Pana hasn't had much luck against Staunton recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Panthers will look to defend their home field against the Bulldogs at 4:30 p.m. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a three-game winning streak alive.
On Thursday, Pana earned a 6-1 win over Litchfield.
Joey Laker spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on six hits and racked up six Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Izzy Reed was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Bella Bennett, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Pana hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Litchfield struck out six times.
Meanwhile, Staunton sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-1 victory over Mulberry Grove on Thursday.
Staunton also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: Ele Feldmann gave up only one earned run on four hits and racked up nine Ks.
On the hitting side, Staunton saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Izzy Janus, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double.
Staunton's win bumped their record up to 12-2. As for Pana, their victory bumped their record up to 7-9.
