Baseball Recap: Loogootee Comes Up Short

Loogootee extended their losing streak to seven on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 1-9 in the process. They lost 10-0 to the Bloomfield Cardinals. If the Lions were looking for revenge after losing 15-5 to the Cardinals when the teams met back in May of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

As for Bloomfield, with the win, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 6-9. The result was nothing new for the Cardinals, who have now won six contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

For Bloomfield's part, Ethan Davis was incredible, going 1-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Davis is becoming a predictor of the Cardinals' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 2-9 when he doesn't). Tyler Patterson was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.

Coming up, Loogootee will venture away from home to square off against Shakamak at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Bloomfield, they will welcome Eastern Greene at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Thunderbirds' pitching crew has only allowed 3.2 runs per game this season, so the Cardinals' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
