Soccer Game Preview: San Marcos vs. Valley Center

The San Marcos Knights will head out to square off against the Valley Center Jaguars on Thursday. San Marcos' offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for four straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

San Marcos is likely headed into the match with a focus on the second half, which is when things went downhill against Mt. Carmel on Tuesday. San Marcos took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of Mt. Carmel.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Valley Center duked it out withEscondido on Tuesday. Valley Center fell just short of Escondido by a score of 3-2. The Jaguars haven't had much luck with the Cougars recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.

San Marcos' defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 1-1-3 and their overall record down to 2-6-8. As for Valley Center, their loss dropped their record down to 2-7-4.

San Marcos beat Valley Center by a goal when the teams last played two weeks ago, winning 5-4. The rematch might be a little tougher for San Marcos since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
