Softball Preview: Campbell County Camels vs. Ryle Raiders

The Campbell County Camels will face off against the Ryle Raiders at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Campbell County will roll into the matchup after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any runs on Tuesday, then bounced right back against Boone County on Thursday. Campbell County blew past Boone County 12-4. Considering the Camels have won four games by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Campbell County let Josie Feebeck and Faith Whitford run wild. Feebeck scored three runs and stole three bases while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances, while Whitford went 3-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. Samantha Perry was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 3-for-5.

Meanwhile, while Ryle put up plenty of runs on Friday, the same can't be said for Dixie Heights. Ryle was the clear victor by a 16-0 margin over Dixie Heights. The victory continues a trend for the Raiders in their matchups with the Colonels: they've now won three in a row.

Laci DeLauder was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. DeLauder was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with three RBI and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May of 2024.

In other batting news, Kiley Patterson was incredible, firing off two home runs and three RBI while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Leah Broussard, who scored four runs while going 1-for-3.
