Basketball Recap: Denver Waldorf Takes a Loss

Denver Waldorf fought the good fight in their overtime contest against Front Range Baptist on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 39-38 to the Front Range Baptist Falcons. The Spartans haven't had much luck with the Falcons recently, as the team's come up short the last eight times they've met.

Denver Waldorf lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Lara Gregory, who dropped a double-double with ten points and ten boards. Denver Waldorf is 2-1 when Gregory posts ten or more rebounds, but 4-6 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Macy Tentori, who posted three points.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Front Range Baptist to victory, but perhaps none more so than Emma Gerrard, who went 8 for 13 on her way to 16 points and eight boards. Those 16 points gave Gerrard a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Abbie VanDenBerghe, who went 5 of 12 to rack up 11 points and seven rebounds.

Denver Waldorf now has a losing record at 6-7. As for Front Range Baptist, the victory was their first at home , bumping their record up to 4-13.

Denver Waldorf didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 54-22 defeat against Fleming on the 8th. As for Front Range Baptist, they have also already played their next match, a 42-0 loss against Denver Jewish Day on the 10th.
