Softball Recap: Portland Highlanders vs. University/Classical Magnet Hawks
Portland came into Friday's game having lost three straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They walked away with a 12-8 victory over the University/Classical Magnet Hawks on Friday.
Kaelin Mullin made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing seven innings while giving up four earned (and four unearned) runs off five hits. Mullin was even better at the plate, getting on base in four of her six plate appearances with one home run and three runs.
In other batting news, Ella Royea was excellent, going 2-for-5 with two runs and one stolen base.
Portland hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least three batters in three consecutive matchups.
Portland's win bumped their record up to 2-4.
