Volleyball Game Preview: Hilltop Cadets vs. Holgate Tigers

Hilltop is a perfect 4-0 against Holgate since October of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Cadets will venture away from home to challenge the Tigers at 5:30 p.m. Hilltop is coming into the contest hot, having won their last five games.

On Saturday, Hilltop was able to grind out a solid win over Evergreen, taking the game 3-1.

The match finished with set scores of 25-23, 29-27, 19-25, 25-17.

Hilltop can attribute much of their success to Brooklyn Kuszmaul, who had 22 digs and two assists. That's the most assists Kuszmaul has posted over her last seven matchups.

Hilltop was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 13 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least seven aces in five consecutive matches.

Fans were treated to a battle of the Tigers on Saturday. Holgate came out on top against North Baltimore by a score of 2-0. The victory continues a trend for Holgate in their matchups with North Baltimore: they've now won six in a row.

The 2-0 score doesn't show just how dominant Holgate was: they took both sets by at least 11 points. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-14, 25-13.

Hilltop's record is now 13-5. As for Holgate, the win was their first at home , bumping their record up to 5-10.

Hilltop skirted past Holgate 3-2 when the teams last played back in October of 2024. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was the Tigers' Mya Tijerina, who had 37 digs. Now that she won't be playing on Tuesday, will it be easier for the Cadets to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
