Baseball Recap: Mt. Vernon Rams vs. Salem Wildcats
Mt. Vernon was the 4-3 winner over Salem when they last played one another back in March, but their luck changed this time around. The Mt. Vernon Rams fell 6-1 to the Salem Wildcats on Monday.
Ty Pierce was huge no matter where he played even without the win. On the mound, he tossed five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Pierce was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 1-for-2.
On Salem's side, they saw eight different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Colton Shelton, who went 1-for-1 with a home run and four RBI. Shelton has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive pitching appearances.
