The Corona Panthers will face off against the Los Osos Grizzlies at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Corona is coming into the match hot, having won their last seven games.
Los Osos' hitters are going to have their work cut out for them on Tuesday: Corona hadn't allowed a single run the last three times they've hit the field. The Panthers never let Roosevelt get on the board and left with a 20-0 victory on May 1st. The Panthers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 13 contests by six runs or more this season.
Billy Carlson and Anthony Murphy did most of the damage at the plate: Carlson went 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple, while Murphy got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs and three RBI. Jesiah Andrade was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Meanwhile, Los Osos had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Cypress on Thursday, sneaking past 7-5.
Jordan Mejico looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off four hits.
At the plate, Los Osos got a big performance out of Evan Jones, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. That's the most RBI Jones has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Hunter Meyer, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Los Osos has been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten games. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-8 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.3 runs over those games. As for Corona, their victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 26-2.
Corona came out on top in a nail-biter against Los Osos in their previous meeting back in February, sneaking past 2-0. Do the Panthers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Grizzlies turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
