Basketball Recap: Josie Watts' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Stone Ridge School of the Sacred Heart over Episcopal

Stone Ridge School of the Sacred Heart lost against Episcopal two weeks ago, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Stone Ridge School of the Sacred Heart Gators took a 63-49 bruising from the Episcopal Maroon.

Stone Ridge School of the Sacred Heart lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Josie Watts, who posted 16 points and six boards. Another player making a difference was Carrie Helfrich, who had seven points in addition to seven assists and five rebounds.

Princess Akojenu was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double with 23 points and 14 boards for Episcopal. Akojenu's evening made it seven games in a row in which she has scored at least 17 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Genesis Villegas, who scored 14 points and eight rebounds.

Stone Ridge School of the Sacred Heart's defeat dropped their record down to 16-10. As for Episcopal, their victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-9.

Stone Ridge School of the Sacred Heart does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Episcopal, they will challenge Flint Hill at 2:45 p.m. on Sunday. One thing working in Flint Hill's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last four contests.
