Baseball Game Preview: Pike Road Patriots vs. Lee-Scott Academy Warriors

The Pike Road Patriots are headed away from home for the first time to take on the Lee-Scott Academy Warriors at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Lee-Scott Academy took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Pike Road, who comes in off a win.

On Friday, Pike Road earned a 7-2 victory over Clay-Chalkville.

Hunter Matthes and Ethan Hunter dominated on the mound. Matthes tossed four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits, while Hunter tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.

At the plate, Runner Stripling was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Quinton Robinson was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two stolen bases.

Meanwhile, Lee-Scott Academy lost 13-1 to Enterprise on Friday. That's two games in a row now that the Warriors have lost by exactly 12 runs.

Lee-Scott Academy also got a good showing from Harrison Short, who struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and only one walk).

On the hitting side, Lee-Scott Academy saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Allen Owen, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

The win got Pike Road back to even at 1-1. As for Lee-Scott Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.
